The Design Process
- StoryBoard
- Plan out and develop a storyboard for the presentation.
- PowerPoint - gives a clear easy to use storyboard.
- Screen Captures- know what you are going to do and
what will happen.
- Record Media
- Create the various screen captures, images, and sound clips to be used in the presentation.
- PowerPoint - Add pause time at the end of each slide.
- Screen Captures- I record with out the voice over and have long pauses.
- Add Media
- Use Camtasia Studio to assemble the various media clips and add any special Camtasia features.
- PowerPoint - Very little has to be done at this stage.
- Screen Captures- Remember the 80/20 rule.
- Avoid overkill.
- Produce Tutorial
- Produce the tutorial as a video clip (AVI, WMV, Quicktime
formats) OR as a Flash presentation.
- Format - What is best for your audience?
- Output size - Consider the the screen landscape and display hardware.
- Post Tutorial
- Transfer the files to the web server for public internet access.
Don't Reinvent the Wheel!
Use the professionally produced tutorials if offered by the resource provider.
